Luis Reis obtained the doctor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) – University of Lisbon (UL) in 2004. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of IST – UL and is an integrated member of the research centre IDMEC (Institute of Mechanical Engineering). He is coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering and also coordinates the PhD programme LIT (both at IST-UL). Luis Reis integrates the Scientific Area of Mechanical Design and Materials in Engineering and participates in research activities related to the design and development of products, the analysis of structural integrity of mechanical systems and components, the mechanical behaviour of materials and the additive manufacture of parts and components. He is the author of more than 150 scientific articles published in scientific journals and has participated in several national and international research projects.
